I have been very honest with all of you that learning was very scary for me when I was in elementary school. I reached a point where I could not avoid hard work so I had to change the way I think and behave. Back then, I did not know that it was called developing a "Growth Mindset." My metamorphosis took a long time but now I have reached a point where I can't stop learning. Learning new things is exciting to me.
So...
I spent my Saturday being a student and I participated in 25 classes. Thank you PTA for paying my registration fee for The Art of Education Winter Conference. I gain so much from these conferences and I look forward to them every 6 months. The presenters are teachers, artists and authors and they share information, resources and techniques that are transforming art education.
Some of my favorite topics were
- The Connect Effect: How to combine art and community for a truly dynamic experience
- The biggest secret to cultivating self-directed learners in the Art room
- Art before breakfast: finding time to create art every day
- Meaningful grading in the Art room
- There was even a class on my favorite topic, GROWTH MINDSET
