Developing a Growth Mindset
We believe in the power of yet
- Yet means you aren’t giving up.
- Yet means you expect to accomplish the task.
- Yet means you intend to complete the journey.
- Yet means you recognize the principle of timing.
- Yet means you believe.

Positive expectancy and believing you can do it and replacing can’t or won’t with “yet” is a shift in your mindset that will empower you in nearly any aspect of your life; especially as a learner.

Describe Reality, Don't Judge It!
“I can not do it,” is not an accurate description of reality. It is a judgment about reality. And judgments carry an emotional charge that distorts our thinking and action.
Moreover, the judgment is absolute. It implies that, “not only can I not do this now, I will never be able to do it.”
Absolutes increase the emotional charge – fear! – and further distort thinking and doing.
The fear that they would never succeed at a task can upset a learner more than not succeeding. (That and the deeper fear that their buddies would succeed.)
“I can't do it, yet,” is an objective description of current reality. It doesn't say anything about the future. Being objective about reality in the face of difficulty, setbacks or failure is a powerful way to keep up momentum and make progress toward desired results. It adds hope and possibility to the situation.
